I want to enlarge the file limit from 5120 to 32000 an add a allowed extension (ppt). I did this how in the documention http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/introduction-to-user-group-settings?category_id=30 is described. I created a Testuser belonging only to one user group which ranking is 6. The fiels "maximale Anzahl Download logs" in the plugin system jdownloads is empty. The field "Protokoll anzeigen" is "Ja". The upload of a small pdf-document is working well. The language in the backend is German an in the frontend is english. Is this possibly the matter why it is not working. Which adjustments will be additionally made? I use Joomla 3.92, jDownloads 3.2.63 and php 7.2.15
Hi
I think your problem is the User Ranking. I presume the User Group you greated has Registered as its parent. As Registered has a ranking of 20 then jD will use the Registered UG settings. Suggest you set the ranking to say 125.In the article you reference I did not stress enough the importance of the Ranking suggest you also look athttp://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/which-user-group-is-used
If that does not solve the issue please come back and I will help. Do not think it is a language issue.ColinPS I am presently updating many of the articles in preparation for the next major release of jDownloads so I will hopefully rember to make the ranking issue clearer in the Intro article!!Colin
Hello Colin,
thank you very much for your help.
I changed the ranking of user group "Beamer_upload from 6 to 21. (The parent group has the ranking 20) With this change my adjustments in this user group have an effect in the frontend
Just for my correct understanding: If a parent group has a higher ranking as the desired usergroup the features described in the parentgroup will be attached and not the features of the desired usergroup
Best Regards
Hi
Glad that solved the problem. The basic rule is that where a user is a member of multiple groups then ot those grouops the group with highest JD ranking value is the one used by jD.All members except the Public belong to more than one Group because of the Joomla! inheritance rules. So for instance a member of the Publisher UG is also, by inheritance, a member of the Editor, Author, Registered and Public user groups.
