Post by: antonios on 10.04.2025 14:37:02
Hi,
I'd like to install the available Spanish language pack but I am not sure how. The provided link leads to a 404 error page.
Help appreciated

No, it is with understanding how to actually install the language pack by using these guidelines:
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation-for-v3-9/language-related/install-a-language-pack

It gives a 404 error message

Have you created a joomla multilingual site?  You can only instal the jD language files into a Joomla Mutlilingual site. I will modify the article to make that clearer

By the way:
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to provide the latest translations as a simple installation package. This requires a special component which is currently still being tested. As soon as the current problems have been solved, we hope to be able to offer this service here soon again.

At the moment, only older language packs that have been around for a while can be found there. If you want to install the latest translations, you will unfortunately have to search for the corresponding files yourself on Transifex.

Thanks Colin and Arno for your replies.
My site isn't a multilingual site, but it is a Spanish language site, so it would make sense to include  whatever translations are available even if not complete.

I wonder if I could create some language overrides just to translate a bunch of terms myself.

Yes if it is not a multi lingual site the you could do it manually by changing the English Versions.

Would suggest you confine initially to the front end translations
There is also another way and that is to purchase the FaLang Component
Please check

This is the Language Related section -Article Multilingual site with Falang
Latest version work with Joomla 4 & 5
