Title: SOLVED: Search plugin
Post by: manny on 15.10.2014 17:36:17
Hi,
I've just installed jDownloads 3.2 and I see in the Joomla Plugins screen that there are 2 plugins available.

1/ An example plugin(?)
2/ Search

I've scoured the documentation, but I'm afraid I can't find out how to actually use these plugins.

Could someone enlighten me, please?  :)

Thank you.

Hi
The Example plugin is just there to help people who want to develop a plugin for jDownloads

The Search Plugin needs to be enabled to allow the Search button on User front end to work

Thank you very much Colin.

Is there a way to get a stand-alone jDownloads search-field plug-in for use on other Joomla pages?

(I thought perhaps the plug-in I found could be used in that way.)

Not quite sure I understand your question so excuse if I am going at a tangent!  I think perhaps you mean that can you have the Search Plugin  in a content page - not sure but I do not think so.

Yes, that's it.

As my downloads area is not on the home page, I was hoping to use a plug-in to search from the home page.

I don't think the standard Joomla search picks up the jDownloads results.

Thanks anyway. :)

With the jD search plugin get you exactly this!

Aha! Yes indeed! :)

Before I found the plug-in, I tried the Joomla search facility.
Then I activated the jDownloads plugin expecting to be able to use it instead of the Joomla search.

At that point, I didn't try the Joomla search again with jDownloads. (Confused? lol)

Well, it works as you say - and I'm very happy. :D

Thank you!
