News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Okay. I will not use the file code in articles.

What do  I need to to change the OLD ID# to redirect links for 222 categories and 2049 downloads in order for internal and external link to NEW ID#?

Example:

OLD ID#
index.php/public-downloads/finish/16-onguard-online/53-video-stand-up-to-cyberbullying

NEW ID#
index.php/public-downloads/send/13-onguard-online/48-video-stand-up-to-cyberbullying

Hi,
it is possible that you can test the import process from 1.9.x to 3.2.x with a modified version?
But you need for this a valid 1.9.x installation which hast the data structure from the situation before you have tried the first import to jD 3.2.x ...

I have does a look on the import source code and it seems that it is still possible to use the old file IDs  ::)
But i need a real test with a lot of data and also ratings and so on.

Joomla isn't going to support 2.5 further upgrades after the end of the year
I am happy with the JDownloads upgrade from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.36 using v1.9.2.11 with no changes to the ID#'s.  I will stay with v1.9.2.11 until some future date make it possible  to keep ID# or an equal alternative.

Thanks for all your insights and helping with the J2.5 migration. The instructions are flawless.

I tried your idea to test importing backup v1.9.2.11 on  3.2.19 Beta

3 test site results

#1 error
Warning: Failed to change file permissions!
Error

Error! Cannot store the backup file in the /tempzipfiles folder.

#2 and #3 same error
Notice: Undefined variable: database in W:\var\www\books\jdownloads\backup_jdownloads_v1.9.2.11.txt on line 23

Fatal error: Call to a member function setQuery() on a non-object in W:\var\www\books\jdownloads\backup_jdownloads_v1.9.2.11.txt on line 23

I understand not what exactly you have doing here. But maybe it is possible that you can send me your backup_jdownloads_v1.9.2.11.txt file?
Then i can try the import here self and get you after this back the correct imported data (with original file IDs).

Okay. Thanks for the backup files.
I have it now tried with a modified import process and it seems that it works proper.  ;D

I have doing this:
- install a fresh 1.9.2.11 on Joomla 3.3.6
- deactivate after installation the auto monitoring in jD configuration
- delete the 'category example' folder with all data in the /jdownloads/ directory
important:
- open your backup file with notepad++ and use the 'replace' menu function to change ALL 'db table prefix' in the backup file to the value which is use in your target database.
- restore now the backup file in jD
- uninstall jD 1.9.2.11
- install jD 3.2.20 (...this shall be published so fast i can - maybe i can your send a pre-version via e-mail)
- use the options button to set the new permissions
- start the import process and wait a few minutes until you get the result message

See my result below.  ;)

Okay, I checked the db table prefixes matches already. I deleted category example folder.

Do I  keep these folders before installing the new 3.2.20 when released.
_preview_files
_private_user_area
_tempzipfiles
_uncategorised_files

Sad to say, but it seems that you have not read full my instructions.  :(

When you have this folders, it can not be that you have installed a "fresh" jdownloads 1.9.2.11 version!
Before you can do it, you must delete all parts from a early jD installation (folders, db tables).

Please wait with your test until i have ready the 3.2.10 version.

I looked in the original jdownloads folder on the live site using 3.36 and these folder do not exist.

I wasn't aware they are newly created folders from 3.2.x test install. I will delete the test site and start over after you load the new version.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.
