Hi,
I'd like all the downloadable documents of my webpage to be downloadable only by registered users. I just upgraded to both J5 and jD 4.0
With current settings, which came from the existing J3 version of jD, I see that some documents seems to be accessible directly by the PUBLIC but when I change the permission to denie the access to PUBLIC, when I go to REGISTERED to set the permission to ALLOW, it just dosn't work.
However as a matter of fact, all documents seem to be downloadable by anyone, independently of how the permissions seem to be set for them.
So what is the way to set the permissions to make sure that just registered users can download documents?

Hi,
we have some examples about access rules and structures in our documentation page.

I think that also Colin could help you in this case. He has a lot experiences with this.
Please wait until he has read this here.  ;)

There is a lot of docmentation on user group setting. As well as user group settings it is necessary to discuss Access
A good point to start is the article Controlled Accessto Categories and Downloads

First however I need to know which version of Joomla you are using.  If it is Joomla 5.2.4 or above then we need to await a new jDownloads release that Arno is preparing or if you have an Akeeba back or similar that was taken when upgrading from an earlier version of Joomla.  Restoring from that that could be a solution.

If you could let me know the status then I will be able to assist.  One possibility is have access to your site so I could set up the acces etc for a Category and its Downloads as an example
Please et me know

Thanks Colin. I think I figured out how to do it for the moment. I'll keep oberving when there are user interactions and check whether what I did is indeed working as intended.
Best regards
