News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

This has cropped up suddenly after 5 years of trouble free usage.

I have been using jDownloads for the last 5+ years without so much as an issue just as a simple download manager for some free downloads on my site. I went to add a new download today (it is only used from the back end) and I can open a new download creation but when I click Save it simply takes me back to the jDownload control panel and does not create a new entry. I also cannot edit any existing downloads with the same issue, it just kicks me back to the control panel and "locks" the download.

I have not updated or changed any components or even Joomla for about 6 months so I tried to just update both Joomla and Jdownloads to the latest with no resolve:

- Jdownloads 3.2.63
- Joomla 3.9.1

Basically at the moment I cannot add or change any downloads or change/edit/add any new categories with the same issue occurring but all other config changes work just fine.

I have tried to disable the editor, enabled debugging with no errors being displayed. I am really at a loss at the moment and searching now for about 6 hours I have not found any other similar issues to this.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

Thanks,

Jason

Something must have changed but the challenge is to find what it is! :(
Sounds to me like a server-based fault where you can no longer write to the relevant drives.  Presume that downloading existing is ok.  Could be a database limit or some other update on your server.  Is your site a CPanel site?Colin

Yes site is Cpanel.

Not sure if the host made changes, I just know I have not made changes other than adding content, not even any module updates.

I have gone through and updated everything then out of desperation I completely removed jDownloads and trashed the database entries then re-installed and I still have the same issue to the point I cannot create a category. The strange thing is there is no error reported even in debug, just exits the editor screen and returns to the control panel.

I don't have any other issues with other modules. I had to install a different download manager at the moment as this is a live site that needs to be running over xmas and new years so currently the solution is to not use JDownload until I can figure out what is happening
