Search Plugin kills search functionality - [Not a jDownloads Bug]

Good evening,
just installed 4.0.4 and different to earlier versions, it worked flawlessly.
But now I noticed that my search isn't working anymore - I get this error:

Code Select Expand

Failed opening required '/www/htdocs/xxxxxxxx/cms/components/com_jdownloads/helpers/jdownloads.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:..')
Note: The "xxxxxxxx" is a replacement for my user-ID on the server

When I deactivate the "Search - jDownloads" plugin, everyting works fine again.

I have tried to reproduce your problem but failed!!
Using 4.0.4 & PHP8 on XAMPP
Made Search Menu Item
Enabled 'Smart Search - jDownloads Categories' so I could select which Category to search if required.
Did not Enable 'Smart Search - jDownloads'
'Smart Search - Content' was enabled.
See pic attached of Front End view.

Could you please detail your setup for seaches.

Do you mean the old Search plugin from Joomla 3.x? I think this Joomla extension is not more really a part from Joomla 4. So you should uninstall the old jD plugin when it still exist.

You should use the two newer jD smart search plugins and the Joomla smart search component (also named finder). See pic.
