Install Issues latest jdownloads and j5 - [Fixed in 4.0.39]

Hi

Fresh Install J5 on local host,, using Cassiopia

installed jdownloads 4.0.36 went ok no errors
Control panel and User Group Settings I get
An error has occurred.
1364 Field 'inquiry_hint' doesn't have a default value

I have tried unistallin jdownloads, and removing all tables.

Any ideas

Hi
Understand all went well with installing jD4.0.36 in Joomla 5 on Xampp or similar local host.
But when you accessed the jD Control Panel or User Group Settings you got an error "1364 Field 'inquiry_hint' doesn't have a default value".

To locate further need to have jD installed and the turn on debug facilities
Specifically in System - Global Config -System tab set Debug System to Yes and on the  on Server tab set Error Reporting to maximum.

When you then get an error it will give a call sequence of how the error arrose.  So copy and paste the entire 'report' into a forum post in this sequence.

Gave up on J5

Going back to j 4.4, until they fix some of the issues in j5.

Sorry for the delay, but I was ill.

I work on some fixes since today again and will soon publish an update.

Using local server Xampp I also installed Joomla 5.  The update check listed many of the modules and few plugins it was not happy with.  many of the modules I don't use anyway and were disabled.  As it is on a local server I upgraded anyway to see what happens. Website appears to work fine. Downloading files as a user and it reported it could not find the file.  I expected this as the cloned website will not have the same file urls. It also threw out an error that it could not send the notification mail.  That was expected too I suppose as I am on local.

I  may shortly install a cloned version of the live site to a sub site on my live server to see what happens in reality.

So, there are a few things for JDownloads to be sorted regarding compatibility.

Hi,
normally jDownloads 4.0.36 works with most Joomla 5 installations.

The fact that the Joomla update check lists parts of the jDownloads installation as 'Status unknown' is due to my somewhat unorthodox way of installing jDownloads modules and plugins.

Several years ago I deliberately decided not to install a Joomla package in order to have more control over installation/update and deletion. However, this now causes these messages from Joomla 5, although the jDownloads component itself is correctly reported as Joomla 5 compatible.

It is therefore safe to update to Joomla 5 despite these 'unclear' messages. Of course, you should ALWAYS create a backup beforehand!
Especially with Joomla installations that have been in operation for many years (and versions) and on which a large number of additional extensions are available. In addition, extensions that are no longer required should be removed and the database should be maintained.

I have now carried out at least twenty updates to Joomla 5 (incl. jDownloads). Mostly with no or only a few problems.
I therefore think that you can make an attempt without hesitation if you have a complete backup for an absolute emergency.

But the decision is up to you.

folgendes konnte ich feststellen:
Wenn man eine neue Gruppe unter Benutzer im Joomla anlegt , dann kommt der Fehler "1364 Field 'inquiry_hint' doesn't have a default value" unter der  Benutzergruppen Einstellungen von JDownloads.
Nach dem ich die Benutzergruppe im Joomla gelöscht habe ist der Fehler weg.

I was able to determine the following:
If you create a new group under user in Joomla, then the error "1364 Field 'inquiry_hint' doesn't have a default value" appears under the user group settings of JDownloads.
After I deleted the user group in Joomla the error is gone.

vielen Dank für den Hinweis, neue Benutzergruppen erstelle ich eher selten bei meinen Tests.
