News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello.

When switching to "Check Download Area" - "Full scan" in the jDownloads Control Panel a window appears telling "Content Encoding Error An error occurred while connecting..." The Check Download Area option cannot be selected. However the Monitoring Logs shows all new files and directories.

Joomla 4.4.3 and jDownloads 4.0.42 Stable, PHP version 8.1.29.

I tried to disable GZip in Joomla but the same effect: there's an error.

Thank you in advance.
Max.

Hello again Colin.

What is the testmode? Where I can find it ?

Here's the Setting - Monitoring Tab:

I don't have any error when Debugging in Joomla as it's a separate window; the window url which opens is: site.com/administrator/components/com_jdownloads/helpers/scan.php?key=jMjD1QIN0nFT3JqLuQb6D0JCNo8Lh8cE&mode=0&test=1

The Window message (translated from french):

QuoteContent encoding error

An error occurred while connecting to site.com.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this issue.

Here's few information from Joomla Debugging Tool:

Maybe this is due to my "upload directory path" change from default root/jDownloads to mine which is home/forcepas/mysite.net/documents ? However I can see all folders and files in "Monitoring Logs" tab.

Regards,
Max.

As you say it might be that you have changed the default location
I assume you  changed Upload directory path in Options - Path Settings.  Is that correct?
Did you also create the two subdirectories _preview_files and _tempzipfiles?

I will check thing in one of my test sites.

I see you have Test Mode selected which is OK
I have quickly tested changingthe root address.  Provided you copy over or move all the existing contents of jdownloads then changing the root works ok

Hello Colin.

Thank you. So what's wrong with my jDownload ?

The folders "_preview_files" "tempzipfiles" and "Uncategorized" (all folders which were in jDownloads default folder) have been successfully transferred to my new root folder.

QuoteI assume you  changed Upload directory path in Options - Path Settings.  Is that correct?

Yes, correct.

What next can I do to debug and start to use the "Check Download Area" ?

Regards,
Max.

Plerased to hear that removing Gzip, as suggested, from your server now allows the Control Panel 'Check Download Area' to work again.
