News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello.

I had jDownloads 3.2.x installed on Joomla. Something about it broke, and the admin page for the files would never load. This happened immediately after an update. I figured removing and reinstalling jDownloads would be the quickest way to sort this out. So I uninstalled ALL of jDownloads as per http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/how-to-uninstall-all-of-jdownloads . This has worked fine, and everything has been removed.

Now, using the newest package downloaded straight from the website (I even checked the MD5Sum to make sure it was uncorrupted), I get the following error when trying to install:
1146 Table 'joomla.qlt2h_jdownloads_config' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT setting_value FROM qlt2h_jdownloads_config WHERE setting_name = 'show.header.catlist.uncategorised'

Looking at the SQL Query, of course the table doesn't exist, it's been deleted in the removal steps!

Again, looking at the SQQL Query, it mentions "WHERE setting_name = 'show.header.catlist.uncategorised'" I am unfamilliar with these.

Where do I find the settings mentioned in the SQL Query? How do I go about getting jDownloads reinstalled?

Thanks,
-jon

Hi Jon,
QuoteNow, using the newest package downloaded straight from the website
From which website?
Which jD version tried you?
Quote1146 Table 'joomla.qlt2h_jdownloads_config' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT setting_value FROM qlt2h_jdownloads_config WHERE setting_name = 'show.header.catlist.uncategorised'
This part from the installation script is only run when your jDownload installation is an update.

Best Regards / Gruß
Arno

I downloaded the package from your website. Here is a link to the page and download I used:
http://www.jdownloads.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=133&view=view.download&catid=43&cid=337

As per this link, the version I am using is Version:3.2.25 Beta

Unfortunately, I did not make not of what version I was using that was removed. It would be one of the newer ones though (3.2.25 or 1 or 2 versions immediately prior).

So I eventually got it to install, but not without some amount of pain...

I have another component installed on my site, eXtplorer. With the help of this, I searched the filesystem for any and ALL references to *jdownloads*, and deleted them all. There was a surprising number of files left even though I "removed" the extension.

Either way, deleted ALL files and folders for jdownloads, used the package that I used earlier ( http://www.jdownloads.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=133&view=view.download&catid=43&cid=337 ), and got the extension installed just fine.

Just FYI...

Hi
By design jDownloads does not remove the database items or the jdownloads and images/jdownloads directories and their sub directories
Did  you use the document below?  If there are parts of the article which need improvement I would appreciate your critique as feed back is most useful.

Hey Colin.

You'll see in my initial post that I did indeed follow the removal instructions you provided a post for. As per that page, I had expected the downloads folder to remain. This folder was left alone. It was some jDownloads subfolders in the components and administrator folders that were removed. I did not make note of the exact folders, so I cannot provide that. Just that is was some component and plugin subfolders that I navigated to.

In the end, I tried to uninstall and reinstall jDownloads to resolve another problem, which has since resurfaced. If I wind up going through the same process, I will certainly make note of the exact folders.

Hi Jon
There is something strange as the uninstall of the plugins, modules and component should have removed things from the Admin and component folders.  Had you by any chance migrated from Joomla! 2.5?  Did you have an earlier version of jD from either the 1.9.1.X or 1.9.2.x series.  Had any of the default directory paths as given in Config - tab Downloads been changed?  If you find the problem again it would be useful to know if the directories were writable.  I am only asking this to see what might have caused things to go awry so we can better advise others.

I'm happy to answer questions you may have. Personally, I have found jDownloads to be a very nice product, and would be happy to help contribute, even if just in this manner for now.

This is a new Joomla 3.3.3 install. No upgrades/migration of any kind. Same for the jDownloads install. Completely fresh, no upgrades/migrations.

As for the directories, only the main downloads directory had been changed. All directories were writable.

This whole re-install process was initiated by another problem I had at the time (which has since resurfaced). I have created a new forum thread for that problem here:
http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=7909.0

Depending on what goes on with that problem, I will be happy to make further notes if we have to revisit this issue.

Jon
See Arno has sorted the other problem.  A principle reason for the 3.2.26 release was the 'white' page in backend.

Hahaha...

I think I had 3.2.24 before, upgraded to 3.2.25, got the whit page problem, and worked to uninstall/reinstall it.

Indeed, Arno has absolutely fixed the white screen in 3.2.26. I have that installed and running and so far so good.

Thanks a ton for assistance along the way.
