I just ran an update from J25 to J33 (not J34 yet) using JDownloads 3.2.26beta Did all the steps, and all downloads were showing correctly in the back end.

But, as soon as I clicked the "Delete all backups" as recommended, all the downloads disappeared from the administrator page. The records are still in the ##_jdownloads_files table, however.

This is a localhost (development) site, running on xampp, MySql 5.6.21, PHP 5.5.19, Joomla 3.3.6, Windows 8.1 64bit
I'm running as SuperUser

Setting errors to "Development" does not show any error messages when looking at the "Downloads" tab.

How can I get the downloads to appear again without reloading them one by one? Obviously something that the "Delete all backups" did :(

BTW, the documentation on upgrading needs to add a comment about permitting access to the "scan.php" file in the .htaccess file if using Admin Tools.
Just need to say to add "administrator/components/com_jdownloads/helpers/scan.php" to the Exceptions "Allow direct access to these files" section.

Hi
Could you tell us which version of jD did you have on Joomla! 2.5.x please. Also was it the latest Joomla! 2.5.28

I am about to publish a preliminary version of the procedural steps for jD2.5.26 on Joomla! 3.5.28 to jD3.2.26 on  Joomla! 3.3.6  (have not yet tried 3.4).

PS thanks for hint about Akeeba Admin Tools.  But a bit puzzled, is it if you do an FTP transfer or similar  of some files to be made into Downloads.  Basically need some context of when needed.

Regarding "hint". at the Control Panel (J33) on the right, there's a link to "Check Download area now" Which I had hoped would fix the problem, but it didn't. However, it did need the exception in .htaccess to allow running it. A couple of other extensions automatically put that exception into the Admin Tools exceptions, in case you're interested in trying that out :) Nothing to do with FTP transfers.

I was on current J2.5.28 with all updates applied. I had the last 1.9.1.6 version on my J25 site. Pretty sure I had 1.9.1.11 (?) on the J33 site before migrating the tables. I copied the tables over (I am doing it the hard way because the Joomla upgrade just wouldn't work. It would do about half of the upgrade, and I gave up trying to find out what was wrong. So, I'm moving tables over, and then applying the upgrades.

I'm going to uninstall everything, drop the tables, recopy the tables, install 1.9.1.11 and then do the upgrade again.

But, really, ALL the downloads were correctly showing, all categories, etc. Everything was "perfect", until I clicked "Delete backup".

I'm using a theme from Rocket Themes which doesn't yet have the Joomla 3.4 installer ready to go. They're working on all their back templates to update them. So, that's why I decided to rebuild my site with J 3.3.6  The theme works with J3.4, just won't install under it yet.

One more point, and I have no idea why, but all the files are there now. As if they needed a half hour or more to "show up"?

Argh!

Anyway, glad I checked just now, as I was just going to delete everything and start over.

I might have had caching on when I reported the issue -- not sure. I did turn caching off however at some point as well.

Perhaps "turn caching off" should be a bold statement/suggestion in the migration (haha).

Anyway, now all I have to do is find a way to remove all the annoying notes "imported from v.1.9.x) because they cause ALL the rows to be double height in the view window.

Hi,
It's good news that the procedure worked.  Just for interest did you use the docs about migrating? And if so werre they useful.  Your observation about cacin is helpful and I will add a note.
How are you with SQL?  As it would be easier to use one SQL statement to remove all of the offending descriptions.  Normally quite straight forward if you have cpanel.  I usually set up a find query with a like and the convert to setting field to be empty.

SQL is pretty easy, yes. And, I do have phpMyAdmin available. Since I'm running a local (development) version right now, I don't need CPanel for this. Perhaps a "tool" option to remove those comments or change them to something user specified.

Yes, I had read/followed the docs, I believe. The main issue was that the downloads tab/screen was blank afterwards. I think it was because I turned off caching later that they finally showed up, but I'm not sure and don't want to do it all again - haha.

Yes once is enough with the migration!  Could you please Post a suggestion about a tool to remove the text and/or a config option to specify what text one would like, which could be nothing.
