News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I have deactivated all Cache and Compress options in the Joomla configuration and template settings.

The problem in detail:
The /index.php?option=com_jdownloads&view=config   screen opens correctly but when I save or close, even if no changes are made, I get Not Permitted bank screen

I have searched for "Not Permitted" in joomla forum and here but can find nothing

Hi
This sounds as if the Install did not go through properly or some other system based fault.  Need to ask a series of questions so please excuse.

Have you been using jD3.2 series previously OK?

Were you upgrading from a jD 1.9 or a jD 2.5 series?

Was it a first time install?

Did you install/update using the 'Upload Package Method' in the Extension Manager?  Other methods may cause a 'challenge' at the moment.
.
Were there any error messages during the install/upgrade?  Sometimes there is not enough memory allocated in PHP.  This is not unusual in Apache webservers with cPanel

Please let us know the situation in mre detail so we can better help you.

Thanks for your thoughts, it looks like it was a permissions problem and looks like my hosting provider has fixed it.

I am no longer getting the Not Permitted error when changing and/or saving the configuration

thanks
