Looking for possibly the simplest configuration possible with one modification. All documentation seems to miss this. Forums scare me due to the nature of the short answers with little to no examples (even when asked for). If the admin would provide longer answers and possibly example some of the requests I may not have had to post this.

I have a yoo - widgetkit slideshow that I need to link a download to one slide. There is a separate editor for each slide allowing for custom linking within widgetkit interface. That being said I see mentions of a plugin for an editor in a change log but see nothing in the downloads area for said plugin. After the click on the slideshow I wish for the user to stay on the same page and only have a brief interaction that asks for an email. Once the brief interaction is completed (submit or other) the file should start to download, not display in browser. Dont really care about email formatting of if its accurate in context. Just need to grab an email after button is clicked and without user leaving page.

Is this possible with jDownloads?

Hi
much of the 'longer' info is in the documentation  but there are an infinite number of possibilities so trying to answer every possible requirement is not feasible!

Now I do not know anything about yoo - widgetkit slideshow.  so I need to ask you some info please.  First however jDownloads does have a content plugin that will generate a download sequence.  Does the yoo - widgetkit slideshow custom area allow plugins?  If it does we are partway there.  If it does not then it is possible  to have an html <a ...  type link.

A standard feature of jDownloads is an option in the email section of the configuration to have an email sent every time a Download is downloaded.  Sending of the email is automatic. The layout and content of the email is admin selectable  There are other facilities for user interaction such as having to agree to a licence, and you can design your own licence text if you wish.

Another configuration question is "Which file types are to be opened in the Browser?" so that is not a problem.

My initial response is that your request looks feasible.  Note all jDownloads modules and plugins are installed with the component.  You do need to set up at least one menu item but that can be hidden.  Also jDownloads supports Joomla permissions and access levels so they need setting as well.

You need to be sure that widgetkit is capable of linking.

By the way a lot of answers in this forum are quite lengthy!

I am doing research on a story like this. And would tell everyone to understand.
