Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello everyone.  I was wondering if there was a way to have my downloads to not open as read only (.doc, .xls, ect.)  My users need to be able to open the document, make edits, and click save to save back those changes.  We have this running on a WebDAV server, so it should work fine.  I am assuming I have to make my links direct links some how.  If there is a way to default this, that would be great.  Thanks in advance.

Hi
Whilst it may sound eminently desirable that is not a straight forward operation.  A Download is not just the file that is downloaded, it is description, sample images, and several other items of information.
You can set up a user to edit all the other items but not the file itself.  The existing file can be replaced or even deleted.
Also the 'opening' of the file is a browser dependent issue

So I guess the answer at this time is not really.
