We've moved from Joomla 2.x to 3.x.
In doing so we of course updated JDownlaods to the 3.x version.
I backed up the 2.x JDownloads database and restored it to a clean 3.x Installation.

All of our downloads are there, but we cannot modify them. When a modification is done, and "Save" is clicked we are kicked back to the Console page and no changes are saved. I cannot create new categories or Downloads, but I can upload new Files.

I have turned on Joomla Debugging and do not get any error messages.
I have run through the ACL/Permissions fix detail here: http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/permissions-problems-after-migration-to-new-series
This has not helped in any way.
All of the directories are writable.
I uninstalled the plugin, wiped out the tables, reinstalled, and let it rescan the directory to find the files it self. I still cannot change the downloads once JDownloads creates them.

I have found that I am able to change Categories using the Batch mode - but again, cannot change the category or download at all one at a time. I cannot even change the Name of a category.

Our Super User accounts should be the only accounts that have the ability to create/modify downloads. The ACL permissions are all Allow for each action.

Does anyone have any idea one what else I should be looking at?

Hi,
please send me login data as super user for your backend via PM. But please note that i could first check it tomorrow (at the evening).

I hope you had used the update instructions from the documentation?
Best Regards / Gruß
Arno

For future use, I have found the solution, should anyone else happen to come across this type of error:
Essentially, I believe JDownloads is catching or suppressing an error message on the PHP Side. I believe, it should be showing an error message simiar to this:

PHP Warning:  Unknown: Input variables exceeded 1000. To increase the limit change max_input_vars in php.ini.

I was able to change the max_input_vars in my php.ini file and everything started working again. This was probably an issue moving from an older PHP version.

Hi
Thanks for input and cure - most helpful.  Did some 'google' searches and see that this is becoming a growing problem no doubt as applications are becoming more powerful.
As far as I am aware it is Joomla! that does the error handling  but no doubt Arno will know better.

PS Which version of PHP were you using?
PPS At what stage did you change the limit on max_input_vars?
