Hi

I have had a good look and am unable to find away to use a different layout for a catagory or an individual download.

Is this possible?

Am testing i have totally different types of things to download, and have a catagory that does not need to display, author, date, hits etc. I created a layout for this.
All other catagories use the active layout which is fine, is this possible?

Hi
At the moment there is only one active layout per type - so all Downloads will have the same appearance irrespective of which category they are in.

It is a useful suggestion to have a default Download layout specified in the containing category.  Have to think if it applied to sub categories of the current category could be 'challenging'.  Having it specified in a Download would be simpler and probably sufficient

Hi

Download layout option would be ideal, ie defaults to Active Layout, but can be selected via dropdown in additional info.

not sure if these need an new topic.

1) Additional Data Symbol is not always saved on first try. if you access a download with symbol assigned, then choose save as copy, the selected one vanishes..

2) if you have a catagory with a / in ie AC/DC it creates a folder AC, and then folder DC in AC, i think it should filter out / or \ and replacewith a '-' ie AC/DC folder = ac-dc, same for () and *, personally i think it should only allow a-z,0-9,# whichever is safe cross os's,, some are more important if running under Windows WAMP, as are invalid folder names..

Hi
Please make you points 1 and 2 into separate fault reports.
That ensures both are tracked OK
Thanks

Hi,
Quoteif you have a catagory with a / in ie AC/DC it creates a folder AC, and then folder DC in AC
Yes, this seems to be a bug. I will check and fix this in a coming release. Please also note the settings under Files and Folders. See pic.
I will create for this a new bugs topic.

jDownloads supports optional UTF-8 character handling at the folder creation and files upload. This is not a bug but a feature. jDownloads target group are users worldwide and for  all character sets. The idea that everything in IT has to be limited to the Latin character set has been outdated for a long time and is unnecessary. But the implementation is much more complex, which is why many developers do not shy away from this.

Quote1) Additional Data Symbol is not always saved on first try. if you access a download with symbol assigned, then choose save as copy, the selected one vanishes.
I don't think this is a mistake. But I'll take a closer look at the behaviour.

I have this tested now but could not reproduce it.
Perhaps a certain approach is required? The one you described works for me.

When you use the content plugin, you can choose a special layout for each download. See examples in the description. But only there.
