News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL Row size too large. The maximum row size for the used table type, not counting BLOBs, is 8126. This includes storage overhead, check the manual. You have to change some columns to TEXT or BLOBs
Extension installation stopped.

What the heck? Anyway, how do I go back to version without the hours of reloading files?

Hi,
I have never seen such an error message in over 15 years!
Therefore, I can't believe that this is really due to jDownloads.  ::)

But of course it is still possible.
Please activate the Joomla debug function once and repeat the update process. With luck, we will then receive more detailed information.

I don't quite understand what you mean by copying files for hours. Don't you use Akeeba Backup, which is done in a few minutes?

Edit:
A brief investigation suggests that the database at your hoster may be using settings that are too restrictive?

so was updating to the latest version, and it failed the update...

Is there any way to go back to version 35?

Will post the other information soon.

Thanks, Greg

Hi,
If you currently have version 4.0.35 installed, you do not necessarily have to update to the newer version. The message is only a notification and a recommendation.

As of this evening, version 4.0.37 is available. If you wish, you can try to install this version. However, I suspect that this will not be successful either, due to the DB settings being too low. Perhaps you should send the error message to your hoster and ask him for advice or ask him to set the corresponding settings higher.

Since the installation of version .36 was aborted with an error, version .35 should still be installed. If this is not the case, please explain to me in detail what the status is.

I do not understand what you mean here. It exist not another pro version. Okay, I think you means Akeeba.

Edit:
I have withdrawn version 4.0.37 until the bugs are fixed. I apologise for the inconvenience.  :-\
