Since I updated to the current version JD 4.0.36. The users who contribute files report this error to me in the uploads, it seems that it requests a recap, before this version it did not happen. Here I attach the image from the front

Hi,
which Joomla version and which Google reCaptcha plugin? v2 or v3 (invisible)?

To fix it temporarily, disable the corresponding option for this user group in jDownloads.

I am using joomla 4.4.0. and JD 4.0.36. recaptcha V2. The funny thing is that this has happened since I updated to JD 4.0.36 or since Joomla was updated to 4.4.0. I have never used recaptcha for members who contribute files, only registered users can contribute, public users can only download using the recaptcha. I solved the error by turning off the recapcha plugin in the global system.

Hi,
thanks for the infos.

I had to change some parts in version 4.0.35 to enable the reCaptcha functionality with Joomla 5. Joomla 5 no longer supports the plugin for v2. So it is possible that this is where the error lies. Even though I have tested it several times and extensively with Joomla 4 and Joomla 5.  :-\

Arno, So what version of recaptcha do you recommend from now on?

Hi,
as far as I know, the Joomla 5 update deletes the older v2 plugin during installation, but keeps the v3 plugin.
Therefore, I would use this for the time being. It may be that something will change again in the near future.
I will certainly have to support other plugins in the future. But I'm not sure yet which ones exactly.

I want to ask just one question: Why did Joomla 4 last so little and suddenly there is Joomla 5?

Hi
I think many of us have the same question.  I think that the joomla team did not appreciaste the chalenge of component integation from Joomla 3
to Joomla 4

At the present time I would suggest you avoid J5

I have the same problem. I have never enabled recapcha for jDownloads frontend uploads for any user group, and now it throws the capcha error when I try to frontend upload a file.

I am using J!4.4.0 and jDownloads 4.0.36. Funnily, on my test site which I have switched to J!5.0.0 it works OK, but I am not ready to switch to J!5 on the live site yet.

As suggested in one post I tried to disable the capcha-recaptcha plugin but then when I attempt an upload I get a PHP error "Call to a member function get() on null".

I am currently testing the recaptcha with Joomla 4 and jDownloads 4 more extensively and hope to be able to fix the bug soon.

Captcha is working ok with Joomla 4.4.0, jD 4.0.36 and PHP 8.2.4
