News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello,
This is a configuration error.
I had 3 categories (jdownloads) each with a dowload
I had no problem
I tried to put the 3 dowloads in one category, while unpublishing the other 2 categories, to see the frontend display.
I got this message
components\com_jdownloads\tmpl\categories\default.php on line 466
I've put the 3 categories back as before but the error persists
Thanks in advance
Joomla 5.0.2

Hi
 Puzzled by stament
'When I put all downloads in one category, some options was "deleted" (from category or from downloads) ???'

WQhat mechanism did you use to put the Downloads into a single category.
Did you just edit the Download and change its category?

I deleted all downloads and all categories.
I create two categories. I have no problem in the frontend.
When I created the third category, the problem has reappeared
when I removed the 3rd category again, the problem disappeared again.

I tried with 4 catégories the problem disappeared again.
With 5 cat reappeared, with 6 cat disappeared

Perhaps the problem occurred when I created the 3rd category and didn't notice the error.

The sixth category is not on the home page (unwanted). It can be accessed via a link on the 2nd page. When this link is clicked, the following message appears
Warning: Undefined array key 6 in F:\xampp\htdocs\joomla501\components\com_jdownloads\tmpl\categories\default.php on line 466

Warning: Attempt to read property "access" on null in F:\xampp\htdocs\joomla501\components\com_jdownloads\tmpl\categories\default.php on line 466

Remember that I display categories in the home page with 2 columns

In the home page settings, I had chosen "ALL" for category display. Despite this, there were only 5 categories per page and the 6th in another page.

But by changing "ALL" to "10", my 6 categories are displayed on the home page.

No more problems

My template is CASSIOPEIA

Hi
Is the Problem Solved?

There are many articles in the documentation but written in English
If you have the front page of the documentation

https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation
Then at top right you can select Language and it will be translated by Google
and on any article. Suggest it may be useful to look at article
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation/options-configuration-v3-9/a-tutorial-on-the-frontend-options
and the other articles in that section

Best wishes
Colin

Hi Colin,
could you reproduce this problem?

Arno,
Yes I did reproduce but only at the last stage as I did not understand the question properly!!
In Options - Frontend - section 'Items per Page' in option
'Number of Categories to show per page *' one can type the text ALL.  If you do a save it sets the value to 0.  This then invokes the default of 5.
Maybe the explanatory text could be modified to
'Allows you to specify, as a numerical value, the maximum number of top level Categories to display on each front-end page. See 'Show navigation for Subcategories' below for sub-categories.

QuoteIn Options - Frontend - section 'Items per Page' in option
'Number of Categories to show per page *' one can type the text ALL.  If you do a save it sets the value to 0.  This then invokes the default of 5.
When I test this on the demo website, ALL categories are displayed. The same with the downloads when I enter ALL there. But I haven't looked into the source code yet.

But you have not been able to reproduce the error messages described by the user?

Arno
I have not reproduced the error.
The ALL entry does not work - it effectively switches it to 5
I am using Joomla 4, not Joomla5, with jD 4.0.39 on XAMPP

Hi Colin,
strange. Maybe are on the demo website other settings.

But I could reproduce now the error message:
QuoteWarning: Undefined array key 3 in F:\xampp\htdocs\joomla501\components\com_jdownloads\tmpl\categories\default.php on line 466

Warning: Attempt to read property "access" on null in F:\xampp\htdocs\joomla501\components\com_jdownloads\tmpl\categories\default.php on line 466
This only appears when selecting a layout with multiple columns.
I have fixed the bug and it will be part of version 4.0.40.
