Hey!

As already discussed here: http://www.jdownloads.com/index.php/support-forum.html?topic=7682.msg33989#msg33989
I am suggesting to add a feature to control what depth you want to show in Category List Box. You can compare it to a filter, because many sites have many categories and if you cant limit the Category ListBox it gets very messy.

Thank you very much!

Hi,
i try in the moment to add this. But we have a problem.
Example:
- you have selected only 'level 1' categories to view it in the list box
- you go to a sub category
- which category should then be selected in the list box?
We could use the parent category, but could then be a little tricky.  ::)

Hey! Thank you for reviewing my suggestion.

In my opinion, it would only make sense, if category ListBox will ALWAYS show same categories (so the categories you defined per "Level/Depth". If you switch to a subcategory, the ListBox should still have the same categories as before entering subcategory. So You can define what depth you want to show and it will be ALWAYS in ListBox no matter to what subcategory you will switch :)

So you mean it should not be updated anytime? And viewed allways 'Overview' (the root) as default?

In this case must we give the user a hint in the backend before he use this option. Otherwise i get here many new postings about a bug.
I am not sure that this is a good solution.  :-\

Hi
If one wanted to limit the number of category levels shown I would interpret it as intending to assist in tracking down a particular category.  So if the level was set at three then initially I would see the first three levels Levels 0,1 & 2)  If I selected a level1 category it would show all the level 1 cats and then the next 2 levels (levels 1, 2 & 3).  If instead of selecting a level 1 cat I had selected a level 2 above then it would sow levels 2, 3 &4.  The Up button would take us back a level, and overview would take us back to the original start showing all the level 0 cats plus the requisite number of sub cats.

a possible variant would be with the exception of level 0 if I selected a category it would act as if it were a root and show the required number or sub levels.

Basically limit to current sub branch with overview and up button as get outs
