Good Day Everyone,

I'm looking for an extension or a way to force my users to download files (the files are MP3 so if not managed properly in many browsers it will start streaming and not downloading...) I also want to help the users that don't really understand how internet works to make it easy for them click a "download" link and the download starts.

I wanted to use a simple "download.php" file but it has more issues than good sides; especially security issues and there is also a "file size" issue (always stops a download after 20MB or something like that).

So I want to know if JDownloads would help me create links to specific files on my website that user can download.

I don't want to recreate a whole table working with JDownloads I just want to have a simple way to create a link so that the users can download a file securely.

Hi

Yes jDownloads can help.  It handles big files.  And you can configure whether it just Downloads or it is 'actioned' by your browser (which you do not want).  In one of the show cases (http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=8088.0) I know there are files of over 100Mb that are downloaded on a regular basis.

One can start downloading either from one of the menu pages or with the jD Content Plugin in articles.  (there has to be one menu but it can be hidden.
From what you say I think the Content plugin approach might suit you best.

jDownloads is highly configurable but there is extensive documentation with about 50 articles grouped in about 10 categories.

If you outline what you are trying to achieve then I am sure we can help with the details
