Hello all,

I want to delete missing downloads, since i emptied my download folder on the server, the downloads are now unpublished and missing. But i cant delete them from the backend Downloads section... When i try to it says:
Error
Associated file(s) selected for deletion were missing.
Error!

I just want to delete everything and start with a clean empty download section. How can i do that?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi
Did you delete the files associated with each Download directly using for example your Control Panel file manager of an FTP program like FileZilla?

Are the Categories (directories) still there or did you delete them as well?

If you have deleted all of them then the easiest way is to uninstall jDownloads Completely. You might find find the following article useful
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/how-to-uninstall-all-of-jdownloads

Then you can re-install with a completely fresh set up.  The complication is the way that Joomla! permissions work.  Obviously the proper way to delete Downloads is from the jD backend.
Suggest you make a backup just in case you make an error!  In my experience I find I only need a backup when I have not made one!!

Well I am still on the local host with my website since i am testing all kinds of things before i go live. I am using Ampps for that. So i deleted the files just from the jdownloads folder on my pc. (c:/program files/Ampps/www/''mywebsite''/jdownloads/) The catagory is still there though, i had only one. I guess reinstall jDownloads is the only option i have? I costumized a lot of things so it's not the best solution...  :( Maybe there is another trick for this?

Thanks for your help Colin

Hi
You can save the present customisations by saving or renaming the relevant database tables rather than deleting them.
There are 8 tables like below
xxx_jdownloads_categories,  xxx_jdownloads_config,  xxx_jdownloads_files, xxx_jdownloads_licenses, xxx_jdownloads_logs, xxx_jdownloads_ratings, xxx_jdownloads_templates, xxx_jdownloads_usergroups_limits

After uninstalling then rename  xxx_jdownloads_config, xxx_jdownloads_licenses and  xxx_jdownloads_usergroups_limits to say  xxx_jdownloads-_config_saved, xxx_jdownloads_licenses_saved and  xxx_jdownloads_usergroups_limits_saved.  If you have changed the Layouts in v41 then also save/rename  xxx_jdownloads_templates  BUT only reinstall v41 because on a fresh install with v42 you will not get the old templates.

Drop the others, reinstall jD, drop xxx_jdownloads_config, xxx_jdownloads_licenses and  xxx_jdownloads_usergroups_limits and rename the saved ones back to the required names.  Also of course the xxx_jdownloads_templates_saved if you have modified the layouts.

After getting v41 up and running then upgrade to v42.  This is not usual but major change to layouts has occurred with v42. See
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/layouts-overview for more on these
