Hi

We are follwing your Migrations steps from v1.9.11 to version 3.2.

When we got to install the latest version Joomla returned error:Warning

Unknown column 'type_alias' in 'where clause' SQL=SELECT * FROM gtqpy_content_types WHERE type_alias = 'com_jdownloads.download' and Error
Error installing component.   We are using Joomla 3.4.8 and php 5.4.35 in a hosted enviroment.

Please assist

Hi
There have of course been a lot of successful migrations but there does seem to be the odd 'glitch' in some server situations.  The most common cause seems to be a timeout from the server causing an incomplete installation, and hence errors.

In the  migration notes I understand you got as far as to step 11, as shown below and it fell over?

 • Do not delete the database items or the jdownloads and images/jdownloads folders and contents.
 • Install the new jD 3.0 series jDownloads component. Get the new version zip file from here  and then update using one of the Extension Manager Install methods. If you need more details on installation see First Time Installation
 • As part of the install and initialising, the jD 3.2 series component will delete any remaining jD 1.9 series language files as those older ones are incompatible with the jD 3.2 series translations

Which Installation method did you use?  The Upload from package file seems to be the most reliable one.
Was your jD category located at <yoursite>/jdownloads ?

Suggest you check to see that all the Categories (directories) and Downloads (files) look in place and that the images/jdowloads/ directory has the relevant number of sub directories - see pic attached.

One way of avoiding the timeouts is to use a local PC with xxamp server So I would suggest using your last backup and doing that.
I will also bring this to Arno's attention to see if he has some better scheme.

Obviously if you need help with xamp or similar please ask.

Hi Colin

Thanks for the reply.
If it is only a time out issue we can try again and see, but to answer we loaded from the upload package file and yes located at <ourdomain>jdownloads.

We follow instruction exactly.
Let me check the directories.

attached is the current view of these

Hi
Think you are looking at /jdownloads in the root dir - your dir looks similar to mine see pic, except I have a few more test cats
It is images/jdownloads that i sent pic of.
