News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hi  ,

I've seen the post below but it doesn't seems to work for me.
I've Joomla 3.4 and the latest JDownload 3.2.45. I've setup Public & Guest  users to "Download" but when I visit the page I must Login. Why? Here a similar post:   http://www.jdownloads.com/index.php/support-forum.html?topic=7867.msg31345#msg31345

(p.s. why your text editor do not allow me the enter a new line? Entering a post in a single line is not ideal... I'm using the latest FFox).  Many thanks.

I also use Firefox.  This is a bug with the Forum software that we use.  In the editor tool bar at right end there is a [k] type symbol.  Click on that after you have typed the first bits and it will sort out the new line -  yes it is a pain!

This is most probably a Joomla! permissions issue. But are you using the 'List My Downloads' menu item as that only works for logged on users.
See http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/menus-overview specifically the section on List My Downloads

Have you looked at the articles on Permissions?

Unless you really know about permissions NEVER use Deny as it has many side effects one might not expect.  Usually in my experience it is best to set the Component permissions to Inherit (get to these via the Option button on jD Control Panel).  Then set the required permissions on the Top Level Categories for the relevant user groups

If it is a permissions problem then in the backend start by looking at the Public and Guest permissions of a Download you expected to be able to download.  Do not at this stage change them!  From what you say they should show that Download permission is not allowed.  Now track back to the containing category and do the same. Continue until you find out where the Download permission was either Deny or was never Allowed.

Hi Colin

Thanks foryour reply. Finally I got the editor working, and I'm also able to see my downloads (with Public access).

First I've added a "List All Categories" menu and I found my download folder without logging.
Then I've replaced my menu with "List All Downloads" and this is now showing my files without login.
If I remove the "Categories" menu, it still works. So I guess the  "List my Downloads" was looking for me (SuperAdmin) to login, and that's why it didn't work for Public access.

Many thanks !  :)

Hi
Glad you got it solved.
Yes one of the things in jD is that it does need at least one jD menu item.  Usually it is the List All Categories one, even if hidden.
The reason is thatjD needs the menu link as part of forming other links.
I thought your problem was more complex!!
