Content plugin ignores template override

Hi,

I am using template overrides to replace file pics by IcoMoon font. Everything works fine with
[mywebsite]/templates/[mytemplate]/html/com_jdownloads/downloads/default.php
– except when content plugin is used. The settings are loading the right downloads layout, but the replacement of the file pic files by icomoon font is not working.

I found the reason for this in [mywebsite]/plugins/content/jdownloads/jdownloads.php where the pic files are loaded by some functions. Since there is no structure in that directory with /views/, allowing template overrides:
How can I achieve the same layout in content plugin which I use everywhere else?

If this is not possible, please make this an urgent feature request.
