Stop Open Files on Site

I keep getting this issue where people will download a file and instead of downloading to there computer they will click Open and then of course when they click Save it tries to write to the web server so they get a prompt to log into my website.

Not sure, but is there a way it just downloads the file without prompting to Open it to resolve this Save trying to log into my website?

There is a setting in 'Config - Downloads - Which file types are to be opened in the Browser?'  that specifies the file types that will be opened by the Browser.  So you could remove ant types set there.

But I am confused they try to login to your web server as on my sites if I right click on doc and use Save As it saves to my computer.
Do you know which Browser is being used.
Also are you doing any redirects to the login pgae by some extension?
