News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello Team,

The extension is really great invention and much useful.

But, Could you/anyone please help me on how to enable us to request that visitors to complete and submit a form before making the download button available?
As we are using RSForm Pro for form building and etc., Is this something possible to integrate JDownloads with RSForm Pro?

Awaiting reply. Thank you in advance!

Hi
Could you indicate what sort of information you would want from users prior to Downloading please?
If users need to fill in a form then effectively what is the difference in having them registered so they need to login.

The advent in Joomla! of Fields may make this feasible within jD in the next major release.  This is our current priority.

I do not know the details of RS Forms so cannot at this time comment on integration possibilites.  Presumeably if it were integrated with the free version it would also integrate with the Pro version.  Have you asked the RS Forms people about an integration

Thanks
Colin

Hello Sir,

A heartfelt thanks for your quick response.

The current feature that has already there with the greatest extension JDownloads as you said file download facility for registered users is wonderful. We really love that feature. Along with said feature, we need little more If possible. Because  one of my client's requirement is to show a form in download page to collect the contact info and stored the same in admin to be exported into excel file, and at the same time the download link to be sent to the given email address and such link must be valid for only 30mins for file download.

If this is not possible at this moment, no problem. But, Another issue with JDownloads is SEF problem with native SEF component - Can this be possible to improve more? If possible let us know on how to rewrite OR change the link adders from "/component/jdownloads/send/1-dos/12-leadership-training.pdf" to "/download-area/send/docs/leadership-training.pdf" or "/download-area/send/1-docs/12-leadership-training.pdf"
Awaiting reply. Thanks a lot!

Hi
You enquired about the links being better SEF by ommitting the relevant id numeric values.  This is actually a Joomla! stanard to which jD complies. But things are changing as Joomla! has introduced a change to URL Routing.  This is currently available for Articles but is well hidden!.

Go to Content Articles, Select Options then the Integration Tab where you will see a field URL Routing with two options. The default setting is Legacy which means articles have the ids in the link. Setting it to Modern reveals another setting Remove IDS from URLs.

This will become available in the next major release of jD which we are active on - it is already in the current alpha development version, and it works.
Your next question is likely to be when to which the answer is along the lines as soon as it is ready!! :) We will no doubt issue a beta version first and will be seeking volunteers to test.

Hello Sir,

Can this be done by next release? So It'll be possible to make non-SEF ("/component/jdownloads/send/1-dos/12-leadership-training.pdf") to SEF ("/download-area/send/docs/leadership-training.pdf") by next release of JD right? I'll wait for the next release then.

A heartfelt thanks in advance!

Meavin,
I actually said the next major release. That is not the next release in the jD 3.2 series.  Basically we are only updating the 3.2 series to correct bugs.  The changes to support new features as as modern urls are not trivial and require very much work 'behind the scenes'. But it will be as soon as possible after a period of testing in the community.

Please be patient!
Colin
