News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello Arno,
since the upgrade to the new version (4) I get an 403 Error while checking the download area (Forbidden - You don't have permission to access this resource.., /administrator/components/com_jdownloads/helpers/scan.php).
Which directory rights must be set?
Kind regards, Andreas

Hi
Could you advise which Joomla version and which jD version please
Also when you get.an error could you please set up error reporting and copy the full error report - it is usually several lines that track the fault.

Go to System - Global Config- in System tab set Debug System to Yes. Then in Server tab set Error Reporting to Maximum.  Repeat the action that caused the problem and report.  Reset Error reporting to System Default and Debug System to No

Thanks
Colin

Hello Colin,
it's the Joomla Version 4.4.0 and jDownloads Version 4.0.35 Stable. I use the Helix Ultimate Template.
When Reeror reporting ist on Maximum I get some "deprecated" warnings from the template. In the backend I only get the Error Message "Forbidden - You don't have permission to access this resource."

Kind regards,
Andreas

Andreas
The permissions should be, in octal, 0755 for directories and 0644 for files in a Linux or similar system in a user-group-owner scheme. The User is sometimes called the owner

So for a file the User/owner has read and write permission (6), group and others have read (4).
For directories the user/owner has execute, write and read permissions
If it is a Microsoft site it is more complex!

Hi,
could you pleaser activate the Joomla debug option? See here: https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation/general-items-v3-9/turn-on-joomla-debug
Try it then again and post the more detailed error message. Thanks.
Best Regards / Gruß

Hey guys.
I cope with the same Problem.
So the problem exists only in the backend while checking the download area for new files I cant use the debug function. At least I don´t know how in that case. So unfortunately I cant send any reports.
I use Joomla 4.4.0 with PHP 8.1.2.5 and MariaDB-10.4.31. jDownloads is installed in Version 4.0.36 stable.
When I start check download area for new files the following error shows up: Failes to load resource: the server responded with a status 403().
the file and folder permissions are set to 755 and 644 so that should be ok.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance
