News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

php 8.2.12, apache 2.4.57.3, mdb 11.1.2
joomla 4.4, jd 4.0.36

building site locally 2 seperate folders, vanilla installs of above config, gave up on j5.

updated database, odd thing it said i had 4.0.26 already updated structure now it says just 4

put about 20 downloads in site A, backed up cat and downloads using jdownloads tools.
site B, restored cats and downloads.
created menu all cats

downloads appear in backend, but will not display in front end,
in front end i can see the catagory names but it say 0 files for download.

it also appears to have duplicated some catagories and user groups.

what is going on here, seems severely broken to me, spent weeks, going around in circles, trying diiferent joomlas.
is there a doc that says, use joolma x, jdownloads x, php x, etc that will work and all options/facilities have been checked.
Its such a shame

Hi
Can understand your frustration - the Joomla team surprised with introducing Joomla 5!! And requiring an update to the PHP level.

You reported "it also appears to have duplicated some catagories and user groups."  Think this was caused by restoring the Downloads with the Tools.

The 'non appearance' of the Downloads in the Front End is most likely due to the permissions settings not being reset in when the Categories or Downloads were restored. So please set the permissions in the Toplevel Categories. I will investigate the tools.

Hi

Every catagory has minimum permisioins of Download Allowed inherited in green,
the individual download permissions are set to public, which is set as allowed inherited.

total mystery,

purpose of 2 test sites, site A is the 'doodle' version, then when things are ok with a component or template, it is then transferred/duplicated to site B, this allows for a cleaner site B, and cleaner DB structure.

I used the Tools to Backup and then Restore.  All the Downloads then did not have Download permission for public.  This is to do with the initial setup of jD dependant on the jD Global permissions setup.

So think all should be well

Hi

Not following?

So when you backup then restore, the restored ones don't show either.

how did you get them to show?

As far as I can tell everything should be working.

I have even tried setting permissions to Allow rather than inherited allow, still nothing

the catagories show but say 0 files in catagory, even though the catagory has downloads in them and they are all set to Public Allow.
the catagories have published and unpublished downloads in them
