I have noticed that the cron task for indexing has detected an error on line
C:/xampp/htdocs/n-edne/components/com_jdownloads/src/Helper/CategoriesHelper.php:214


I can't explain why the code doesn't work.

I used the default settings of Joomla (see attachment) and created the smart index.

Are you tryng to use Smart Search in jDownloads? If so then you also need to activate three plugins:
(1)Content - Smart Search plugin        --Changes to content will not update the Smart Search index if you do not enable this plugin.
(2)Smart Search-jDownloads     -- Updates the indexes of Joomla! whenever a Download is created, modified or deleted
(3) Smart Search - jDownloads Categories       --This plugin indexes jDownloads Categories.

This is only worthwhile when you havve a significant number of downloads say over 500

Dear Colin,

that's exactly how I did it (I have about 2000 shop items and wanted JDownloads to be found as well).

Apparently the function does not work on the specified line because USER-AGENT is a bot (or I don't know). In any case, the authorise() function ends in Error, which prevents indexing.

This is just my guess after doing some research.

Thank you very much for your renewed reply!

I have now tried to implement this via the instructions. In point 8 I get an error 'Searching for new Directories'.

The two plugins for SmartSearch are switched off because they are still causing the error.

However, the settings in the Joomla backend are correct.

Dear Colin,

Thank you for your renewed reply! I have deleted all search extensions. But this does not solve the problem either.
As soon as I activate the two SmartSearch (Finder) plug-ins from JDownloads, I get an error.

When I deactivate them, the automatic indexing runs again without any problems when I use a CronTask

Interestingly, everything works when I use the index button in the SmartSearch extension in the backend.

Presumably it really is an error with JDownloads.

Just for clarity did you just delete the previous Joomla 3 Search component as described in
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation/general-items-v3-9/using-smart-search#delete-search-component

Those are the ONLY ones that should be deleted.
Also if you deleted them manually that creates problems because your database will still have them. So please advise how you deleted them. If it was manual you will need to go to your database which is usually through phpMyAdmin - I can give guidance if needed

Dear Colin,

Thank you for asking! I had uninstalled the search component some time ago. Now I have seen that there are still remnants of other extensions, which I have now also deleted.

All SmartSerach extensions are installed.

I cannot find any such entries in the corresponding table. I will send you the table as a sql file (as a private message) to be on the safe side. The extensions table also looks good.

Joomla 5 is running on my web server.
