System Info
Joomla: 5.2.0
PHP:8.2.25
SQL: 10.6.19-MariaDB
Jdownload: 4.0.42 Stable

I have version 4.0.42 Stable installed on my system, when I try to run the update to the latest version 4.0.45 stable the update fails with a error of Undefined constant "DS". See attached screenshot of the error message when updating.

Please advise how I resolve this.

Hi
The DS constant was originally used in early versions of Joomla.  DS stands for 'Directory Separator'.
Now 'DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR' is used.

For clarity have you recently, in last few weeks, updated from an old version of Joomla ?
Also did a Joomla! update fail and you repeated it?

To get more info turn on Joomla Debug - this is described in
https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation/general-items-v3-9/turn-on-joomla-debug

Hi Colin,

Apologies for the delay. No I had no issues applying a Joomla update. Just updated site from 5.5.0 to 5.2.2 with no errors reported (Did that prior to re-trying jdownload update).

I switched on debug logging. To be honest I was expecting more info. Please see attached screenshots of the error

Sorry for the very late reply. For personal reasons, I had to take a break from working on jDownloads for a few months.

If you have not yet been able to solve the problem:
Please delete the file jdownloads.php mentioned in the error message in the directory/helpers (or rename it).

This is a remnant of an older version and should no longer exist. Presumably this is because they skipped some intermediate versions or tested an early beta version 4.

Should your problem already be solved, please mark this topic as solved. Thanks.
Best Regards / Gruß

Thank you, that worked. Hopefully I've changed the status to solved correctly.
