Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Prior to upgrading to v3.2, images could be uploaded as a file for downloading, but with v 3.2 I can't seem to have an image as a file for downloading. From the frontend, 'Create Download' dialogue box the only allowed file extensions are zip, rar, pdf and txt. If I upload the image via the images tab, it's identified as a zip file without an available file for downloading. How do I change the allowable extensions for files so that images can be uploaded via the frontend?

The  file types are specified in the uploads section of the configuration
Please see http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/which-file-types-can-be-uploaded-from-front-end in documentation

Sorry Colin, but not really.
Fredie must change it in the jD User Groups Settings.
