Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Duplicate column name 'importance' - [Not a bug]

Hey,

first of all: great software, you build there! Now the Problem:

I want to update jDownloads 3.2.14 to 3.2.20 (latest stable Joomla 3.3.6). At first, I got the same error as Chuck ( http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=7697.0 ). After the todays fix, I get the following error message:

Quote1060 Duplicate column name 'importance' SQL=ALTER TABLE `joomla_jdownloads_usergroups_limits` ADD `importance` SMALLINT( 6 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' AFTER `id`;

Any thoughts?

Hm... have you activated the debug option in Joomla? If so then deactivate it please.

I must search a little bit more to find a solution with the sql error. But for a temporary fix can it be usefull to do this:
- unzip the install package on your pc
- go to this folder: ..\com_jdownloads\admin\sql\updates\mysql
- open the file 3.2.9.sql delete the content and save it
- open the file 3.2.12.sql delete the content and save it
- zip the main folder now and try again an installation

Thanks for the reply.

With your fix I could install the update and as far as I can see, it works out fine.

I installed 3.2.14 from the web catalog. After the installation, the update to 3.2.20 was available.

I have succesful updated from 3.2.14 to 3.2.20. Without any error. See pic.
No idea what in your case was really wrong.  :-\

Edit: i think you have uninstall the older version before you have tried to install the newer one. This is not usefull and not required.
In this case must you also delete manually the jD db tables before you can install the new version.

Hi!

Same issue here. i'm traying to update from jD 3.2.17 Beta to jD 3.2.33 If i do it automatically from extension manager/update i get the error:
1060 Duplicate column name 'uploads_default_access_level' SQL=ALTER TABLE `jos_jdownloads_usergroups_limits` ADD `uploads_default_access_level` INT( 10 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' AFTER `uploads_can_change_category`;

Same problem if try to do it uploading the ZIP file of the new version.

Any idea?

Hi,
sorry for this problem. It has to do with your very old version 3.2.17.

You can try to remove the data field 'uploads_default_access_level' via phpmyadmin and start then again the install script.
In the next version 3.2.34 is your problem fixed.

That not solve the problem. I deleted the data field, but when execute the script, the same error occurs and the data field is created again...

Also uploading the Zip file. Same result.

Okay.
Please remove the data field again and use then the version below for the update.
I hope that this will solve the problem.

Edit:
special version removed as we have now the version 3.2.34 published. Use this for the update.

I've been traveling a few days and I have not been able to test it.
