News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I updated one site without any problems, except that categories got new ID's and I had to change all menu items.
But with second site - I have problems. First problem here
And second - is that all downloads have new ID's.
So, all komento comments not assign to real downloads  :o
I can't understand how it happend...

Hi
The ids are assigned in the order they are created. During the migration the categories and downloads have to be recreated and the order that is carried out will clearly not match the original order.  The effect is that menu items and content items need re-doing. Presently this is unaviodable. It is not clear that an automated and robust solution is feasible.

I don't know why, but when I updated my 1-st site - all downloads ID's have been stored.

Hi
There is obviously a 'challenge' with your second migration but different IDs are not uncommon.  One cause is if a Download/category had been deleted some time in the past so there is a gap.

How is the Permissions situation?  The article I was referring to is http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/show-permissions-overview
At the time I replied I was travelling and only had my Android based tablet with me.

In earlier versions we had new IDs for imported categories AND Downloads. But then we had the described problems with ratings and comments and so on.

So i had corrected the import process that we lost not more the Downloads IDs. Please check the changelog on the download site in which version we had changed this.

So when you use this newer versions, you should always have the same Download IDs. When not, please send me a jD table backup. Then i can try it for you here. Then it seems that you are the only one with this problem... or is your second website with Joomla 2.5?

Hi
Not sure that 'wsoft....' is part of jDownloads.  Did you follow the steps in the article on going from 1.9.2.11 to 3.2.x?  Many people have used that ok.  With large sites it may be better to do the migration on Wamp or similar to avoid server timeouts.

I will recheck as well.

You had before already tried another import so the db tables are already renamed.
But i will test it here again.... so please wait a few hours.

@colin:
the 'wsoft_' part is the database table 'prefix'.

Hi romagromov,
i think in your database is this constellation:
- you have jD tables which are renamed already by a prior 3.2.x installation (like wsoft_com_jdownloads_cats_backup)
- then have you the normal old tables (like wsoft_com_jdownloads_cats)
- you have the new created tables for the new jD series

This structure can not be correct and is the result from repeated import tests.
So you should go back to a 'clean' Joomla environment before you can try again an import.
But it is not so easy to get this clean environment now. Maybe has your hoster backups from your website and he can this restore before you had started the first import try?

When not you, you should try this:
- make sure that you have a valid backup from your jD db data

Here are the instructions when you have a backup file which was created via the jD backup function:
- uninstall jD via Joomla install menu
- delete all tables with _jdownloads_ in the table name (when you have a backup!!)
- install now the old 1.9.x version
- deactivate 'auto monitoring' in configuration
- delete via FTP the new created 'Example' category folders
- open your backup file from jD and change in the top the line 33:
$database->setQuery("INSERT INTO j17_jdownloads_config ( `id`,`setting_name`,`setting_value` ) VALUES ( '3','files.autodetect','0' );"); $database->query();$i++;
to
$database->setQuery("INSERT INTO j17_jdownloads_config ( `id`,`setting_name`,`setting_value` ) VALUES ( '3','files.autodetect','1' );"); $database->query();$i++;
- save the file
- restore now this backup file with the jD 'restoration' function
- afterwards can you use the normal import instructions in the documentation

::)
