News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I have activated using Joomla Tags. I have added many. I added tags to download files in admin backend. That all works fine.
When uploading from front-end, there is nowhere to select tags? Where is it? I of course have it selected in user setup. I have it selected for registered and superusers and neither show the tags when uploading from front-end.

Hee is an image of the front end, again, I assure you, the option is selected in the backend to display tags and it is not there as picture shows. Also, look at the tool-tip. Where is the css for that?

Hi
Most things to do with uploading from front end are in User Group Settings.  For example purposes here I assume that you have a user group (UG) called Uploaders with Registered as its parent.  Then go to User Group settings and select UG Uploaders.  Make sure it has a high ranking level, say 135.  This is second box on left hand side.  Next click on Group Creation/Editing Settings tab on right hand side and third tick box is "Allow custom tags". You will see many things there that allow you to customise your upload form.

Perhaps some useful articles are
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/introduction-to-user-group-settings
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/which-user-group-is-used

There are also articles on setting Joomla! permissions and access levels.

The tool tip CSS is in jdownloads_fe.css in a section starting
/* ++++++++++++++  .tooltip-inner for v3.x series ++++++++++++++ */
/* ++++++++++++++  .tip for v2.5 series ++++++++++++++ */

However I would not advise changing there as it would need to be done again on any update.  The best place is in jdownloads_custom.css as jD uses existing file. The article below gives details
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/custom-css

I suspect you have dark text in your template so getting 'dark on dark'.  If so it might just need  a line setting the text colour.  If you are not sure about changing the css then please raise a separate topic. Also in that case please let us know your site front end address and login to create a Download by PM.

As I stated in my first post, I have those items already checked as you just said. So now what??? The css issue I resolved thank you.

So, after checking and re-checking, I have everything set the way you said regarding the tags, user group settings etc.

Hi
Apologies but I forgot to tell you one other setting :(  This is also in User Groups Settings - Group Creation/Editing Settings tab.  It is quite near the bottom.  The first 'tick' I told you about controls whether an uploader is able to create a tag (yes if ticked).  It is the second one much further down that allows or disallows adding tags to a download.  Again apologies - must still be suffering from jet-lag!!

This article might help

Thank you Colin. Hope you recover quick!
I have that setting checked also. Both have been checked since I tried using this.

Still shows no place to add tags in frontend for registered users of even super-users.

Wolfspyryt,
Again strange.  OK let us try another tack!  Perhaps this is a Ranking level problem.  In Joomla! a user obviously belongs to any User Group UG the Administrator has directly assigned with the User Manager.  These are the Explicit member groups.  However the user is also a member of the parents of any explicit group, the grandparents and so on.  These are the implicit UGs.  So for example if a user belongs to the Publisher UG then they are also members of the Editor, Author, Registered and Public UGs.  They may also belong to another UG called say Uploader which has a parent the Registered UG.

This presents jD with a challenge as it needs to select the correct UG for users in the Uploader group.  To solve this many to one problem jD uses a Ranking value for each UG.  jD then uses those User Group Settings with the highest Ranking level in the set of UGs to which the user belongs, either explicitly or implicitly.

jD assigns ranking values to the 'standard' UGs with Public at 1 varying to Super User at 100.  jD ignores those UGs at a ranking of zero.  Any other UG created will automatically will automatically have a zero ranking.

So please look at first page of User Group Settings where you can see the ranking of all UGs.  For simplicity I usually suggest that the uploaders UG has a ranking of more than 100.

OK if this does not solve the problem my only recourse is to request you PM me  your site details with super admin access.
