News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Does anyone know how I can add links to files directly when I'm writing an article?
Thank you very much

Hi
You can actually use the Content Plugin plus a customised layout. In your article place something like
{jd_file onlinelayout==Standard Files Layout v2.5 (single row)}{jd_file file==16} in the article where you want the link to appear. Replace the 16 with the actual id of the required download.

Next go to Layouts and make a copy of layout 'Standard Files Layout v2.5' by using the Save As Copy button in the main section remove everything except {file_title}

In Config you also need to set up the fields "Activate direct-downloading?" in Downloads Tab, "View Download detail page?" in Frontend Tab and "Use files title as download link?" also in Frontend tab to the way you want it to react when clicked.  You could also leave in the placeholder  {url_download} in the modified layout to get a download button

your page will now look something like
QuoteNam nec ante. Sed lacinia, urna non tincidunt mattis, tortor neque adipiscing diam, a cursus ipsum ante quis turpis. Nulla facilisi. Ut fringilla. Suspendisse potenti. Nunc feugiat mi a tellus consequat imperdiet. Vestibulum sapien. Proin quam. Allegro from Duet in C Major Etiam ultrices. Suspendisse in justo eu magna luctus suscipit. Sed lectus. Integer euismod lacus luctus magna. Quisque cursus, metus vitae pharetra auctor
and the link will initiate a Download depending how you have set the configuration.

PS think I will do an article on the Content Plugin capabilities.
