Hello,

I am new to all of this so forgive me if I don't provide the proper information.

Joomla Release: 3.4.3
Jdownloads: 3.2.35
PHP 5.3.29
MySQLi 5.5.44-37.3-log
Localhost

Compiler and compress have been disabled.

So I am trying to confirm that my downloads from two different sites are able to be downloaded from the frontend. Only a couple of the downloads from both sites actually work in Chrome and Safari. In Chrome, I get Image1 attached. In Safari, I get redirected to a page that states that "safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost". However when I use internet explorer, there seems to be no problems and all the files download well across both sites.

I contacted my webhosting service and they said that it is not their problem. All the links that did not work for me on the two sites worked for them on two machines using 3 different browsers.

Not sure what the issue is here. I have cleared cookies/history in chrome and safari and still no luck. I've made sure that my windows machine and my ipad is up to date along with jdownloads etc.

Thank you for looking into this matter. I love this extension and would like to keep using it!

Hi
I will try to help out.  First in the Config Tab- Downloads do you have the field "Send Downloads using the PHP Script?" set to No? If it is please set to Yes and try again.

I have visited your site and successfully downloaded the pdf "How to write a college essay" using Firefox, Chrome, IE and Opera on my PC.  Each time I used the Download button which took me to the Summary. Then I clicked on Download Button again and it downloaded the pdf AOK.  I also clicked on download name and this gave same result wilt all the browsers.  So I have a problem in not being able to repeat your 'challenge'.  Could you tell me a Download which causes the problem and the route you took to that Download please.  Also downloaded  "2015 AP Registration Form " from Recently Added list on Front Page

Colin

PS You might like to consider changing the Config - Downloads tab "Activate direct-downloading?" field to Yes as that avoids the Summary page when you click on the initial Download Button. Nothing to do with problem.

Hi ColinM

Thank you for looking into this matter. I went into configurations and the "Send Downloads using the PHP Script"  was set to YES on both domains.

Here are two downloads that cause problems of chrome (PC) and safari (ipad). It is basically as if the pdf is stalling to download but never fully opens. I go to the sites, and try to download them using the link name or the download button from the article to which they are uploaded on. I get a stall for the download and it never opens. Just a grey screen in chrome, and a redirect in safar stating that "safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost"

Here are some screenshots from Chrome:

http://www.mskcsmath.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&task=download.send&id=28&catid=2&m=0

Screenshots for both links and browsers have been included.

I have also noticed that the download count goes extremely high once this happens. There is no way that some of my downloads have counts in the thousands or even hundreds.

ps. thanks for the info about activating direct downloading.

Best,

Kerbna83

Hi
As I do not know the cat and download ids could you please tell me the name of a document and the route in category names that goes wrong.  This is so I can just focus on one document that goes wrong.  Also the cat name sequence to one that is ok

Also it might help if you let us know the versions of Chrome and Safari you are using.

Thanks
Colin

For me it seems to be a simple connection problem.
When i try to download the very small pdf files the browser needs 20 seconds to load 1.5MB! The download speed is very very slow.
Sometimes is broken the contact. Sometimes it is possible to download it. All tested with firefox.
So i think not that this has really to do with jDownloads.

I agree, and I do not think this has something to do with Jdownloads so I appreciate all your efforts into helping me. I have updated my chrome on a PC and macbook and all downloads seem to be working fine now. I've tried chrome on PC and chrome and chrome, firefox and safari on macbook pro and all seem to be downloading fine.

I tried on my ipad with chrome and safari and still am getting the aforementioned errors/loss of connection with the larger files. I'm communicating with my host provider as to why this would happen with the larger files.

Thank you for your patience.
