Account Locked

Joomla 3.4.3 dual language, JDownloads 3.2.35

I am the administrator for my site.  I went in and edited the description via the front-end system.  However, after doing so, the account was locked.  So, I signed onto the joomla backend and looked at the downloads and it showed that the entry was locked.  I selected the locked download and then did a cancel and the lock was removed.

Question 1:  Why would the entry get locked if an administrator makes a change to the description?
Question 2:  In the Joomla backend, why would the lock be removed by simply opening the entry and then doing a cancel?

The Download will show as locked if it is already open.  The most common scene is the item was open in the backend and then it was accessed in the backend.  But if you are a super-admin you have special treatment.
If a super-admin merely accesses in backend then it will remove lock if not open in frontend.

Basically super admin is not constrained in lock/unlock.

If you want to follow up do at front end as a user who has permission to create and edit.  See what happens if super admin has download open in backend.
