Hi,

I am currently using the latest version of Joomla (3.4.3) and jdownloads (3.2.25). With files published for download their download counter is incorrect depending on the browser used.

7 Star (chromium 42) adds 1 for every download (correct)
Firefox 40.0.3 adds 3 for every download
Edge desktop (20.10240.16384.0) adds 9 for every download
Edge Windows Phone (Windows Phone 10.0.10512) adds 3 for every download

Sorry I do not have an android or iPhone to test with.

This has been happening with the last several versions of jDownloads, previous versions of chromium used to add 8 for every download.

Any help would be appreciated as we only use jDownloads to track the number of price lists downloaded.

More information:

Joomla 3.4.3
jDownloads 3.2.5
PHP 5.5.28
MySQL 5.6.3
SH404SEF 4.6.0.2718 (tried turning it off but same results)

We have moved servers lately and changed templates but the same thing happen under the previous server and template.

Hi
Have been away for a few days so missed your post.

I am using Firefox as my regular browser and it does not show the problem, which is a nuisance and good at the same time.  I will check out on Chrome and IE on my PC and also on Android tablet.

There must be some set up difference! We are currently having a problem with the same Download be listed multiple times.  This appears to be triggered when using the single category menu item.  If there are two such menu items pointing to the same category then it lists each Download twice, if 3 same menu items the three repeats, and so on.

This does not totally conform with your numbers but it would help it that reason could be excluded.

Thanks

Hi
Cannot reproduce on Chrome (but not shown as a problem) or the new Microsoft Edge.

Do you have caching turned on?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I have caching turned off, but I tried turning it on and the same thing happened. I did more testing and it seems to add counts differently depending on the file, eg. the price list file in chrome correctly adds one while the injectables file incorrectly adds three in chrome.

I think I will make a copy of the site and then test by turning off all plugins etc to determine if one of the active plugins is causing the issue.

Thanks.

Hi
Please keep us posted on any developments.

Just for reference I spent several hours trying to get the fault on various browsers using sites that offer such testing but I could not find anything.  So I was about to suggest what you are proposing anyway! ;D
