News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello everybody,

I'm german and I hope you are able to understand my english.

I tried to install Jdownloads 3.2.38 on Joomla 3.4.4 and get a failure. I read that this jdownloads version is for joomla 3.2. When comes the new version? Thx

Hi
The jd3.2 series is for all the current Joomla!3.x  - it runs OK on Joomla! 3.4.4

The most likely cause of your problem is that the php settings upload_max_filesize and post_max_size in your php.ini file are too small. they need to be about 4M For example
upload_max_filesize=4M
post_max_size=5M
Actually if you intend uploading large files then set much larger.  Also make post_max_size a bit larger than upload_max_filesize as upload_max_filesize uses some extra buffers.

What method did you use for installing jDownloads.  The advised method is "Upload Package File"

Thanks for the info. I did. But there is still these failure:

Unknown column 'language' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO j5zsx_jdownloads_templates (template_name, template_typ, template_text, template_header_text, template_subheader_text, template_footer_text, template_active, locked, language) VALUES ('Standard Kategorien Layout v2.5', 1, '{cat_title_begin}
{subcats_title_text}
{cat_title_end} {cat_info_begin}
{cat_pic}{cat_title}    {sum_subcats}    {sum_files_cat}
{cat_description}
{tags}
{cat_info_end}', '
{home_link}    {search_link}    {upload_link}    {category_listbox}
', '
{subheader_title}
{page_navigation_pages_counter} {page_navigation}
{count_of_sub_categories}
', '
{page_navigation}
{back_link}
', 1, 1, '*')

Maybe you have an idea.
Thx.

Hi
Are you doing a completely new first time install?  Or is it an Upgrade?  Or are you migrating from an earlier jD1.9 series?

If you are doing a completely new install it might be that jD only got partially installed.  So you need to remove all parts of jD
Please see http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/how-to-uninstall-all-of-jdownloads.

Thx!

I delete and reinstal.
But there is another question. Is there a possibility to improt my data from version jDownloads 1.5 Beta Build 682?

Hi
Glad you got it installed OK

QuoteIs there a possibility to improt my data from version jDownloads 1.5 Beta Build 682?
I do not think we have ever tried back that far! So unlikely.  But just in case do you still have the jD 1.5 data?

How many categories and Downloads are involved?
Adding the categories and the files to be downloaded is not a problem but adding descriptions, any other related info and similar is more 'challenging.

If you are very familiar with the database and how to manipulate then it may be possible but ....

Maybe Arno might be able to assist.

To add categories and files turn off auto monitoring, load up a few hundred files and directories into the jDownloads root, then go to control panel and do a manual monitor.  Suggest you make a few additions first to make sure you are happy with it.

Thank you Colin for your help but I think I will create the data new. It is simplier for me.

I'm very thankful to get help in this forum.
God bless you.
