Via Url you can reach the file here

Hi
By using a direct link to the file you are totally by-passing jDownloads and Joomla!  An absolute reference will always work unless the file no longer exists or the server file permissions do not allow read.

I assume you are linking to the file from an article or similar.  The way to do that is to use the Content plugin.  That will then access the file via jDownloads.
Maybe you also want to download directly so please see article
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/download-actions-direct-via-summary-page-or-via-download-details

If you need any assist withe the Content plugin (it has usage description in plugin) please let us know.

Hi,

The downloads folder should contain a .htaccess file with this content: deny from all
This prevents direct access to the files in the folder.

All jDownloads folder has also by default an empty index.html file.

@Jean-Pierre
Thanks for the tip
I always seem to forget the use of .htaccess files! Probably because I generally find them cuimbersome to get right. But as you say it is simplicity itself by using a .htaccess  file with just  the contents
deny from all
does the trick perfectly.  It creates a 403 error.  One is of course still able to access through jD perfectly normally.

Colin
PS if  one is using a CPanel based site then it is easy to set up a 403.shtml file giving a customised error message, which could also include a button to redirect to some 'home' location

Hi Tulski,

Was ebenfalls ein Directory-Listing unmöglich macht. Siehe auch: https://wiki.apache.org/httpd/DirectoryListings
