Today I've decided to install new version of jdownloads. Firstly I've installed latest 1.9.2.11 version and next followed step by step using tutorial.

I've made backup file, next I've uninstall old version and installed latest one. Everything went fine except that I have now 0 files in jdownloads component. How can I restore all downloads? Should I load backup file? But I'm not sure if I can? I thought that after installing 3.x version I will get all my files again.
Please help.

Hi
From your message it seems there was no error messages. Need to ask you some more details in order to assist so pleae excuse.

Is it just the actual directories and files or is it the database entries?

Please check the Config - Downloads tab and see that locations are writable, and most importantly that the absolute address is the same as where your downloads are actually located.

Aproximately how many Downloads do you have?

Hello and thanks for your reply.

I had no warnings during installation. Everything went good. I have all directories set (by default) to writable. I had more than 120 files in download and some more marked as hidden (disabled). I have only one warning: path is not a folder ( /var/www/websitename.pl/images/jdownloads/featuredimages/). Maybe it's all about the path for all files on server? If jdownloads 3.x uses different path than 1.9.2.11 then maybe this is a problem?

Edit: I've just checked the directory on server and I see that the old files are located in root, but they are not displayed by jdownload.
Edit2: Seems that I just have to rebuild all categories again and next link to the files.

Which version have you use before you have updated to 1.9.2?

Maybe can you send Colin login data for your backend via PM?

I've used bugged one. Because of it I had crash on server because there were more illegal files uploaded.
I've noticed that I have now manually to rebuild whole structure of download. Files are in folders but jdownloads doesn' see them. I have to move file to jdownload root folder, create new category etc etc. for example: I have folder with instructions/tv/lg and I move file from this folder to root, create categories with the same names as folders, file in root is then visible in component. I create download file from it and it's moved exactly to the same place from where it was copied. It will be quite time eating to rebuild everything.

You mean the default subfolder '/jdownloads' in your joomla installation folder?

I can't do that, sorry. I'm slowly rebuilding all downloads file by file. I thought that after migration I will be not needed to do that by the hand.

Normally is this not needed.

So i think in your case is a misconfiguration the case.

QuoteIf jdownloads 3.x uses different path than 1.9.2.11 then maybe this is a problem?
It use not a different path - but the path must now be declared as an 'absolute' path. See instructions.

QuoteI have only one warning: path is not a folder ( /var/www/websitename.pl/images/jdownloads/featuredimages/).
also here seems anything not correctly. Can it be that you had used early an old 1.8.x version from jDownloads (before you have updated to 1.9.2.11)?

You should try to install again the latest 3.2.41 version (over the current installation). When this not solved the image folder problem, you should or unpack the install archive and copy the images/jdownloads/featuredimages folder manually to this position on the server.

I couldn't wait for any help on forum and I restored hand by hand more files, loosing maybe some detailed desctiptions, but that's not important. I use google cache to copy datas from previous downloads. 113 files restored, around 40 still awaits for the job.
I don't remember exactly which version of jdownloads I had previously but I think that it was 1.9.x). For sure it was that one bugged which allowed anyone to upload illegal files. I had tones of them (zip files) and one of them did some serious troubles with server. Then I started to search the problem and found that I must update jdownloads.

Yes, we had in 2014 found a security leak. But this was fast fixed in September 2014 with the version 1.9.1.6 (for Joomla 2.5 user) and 1.9.2.11 (for Joomla 3.x user). Maybe you had failed to carry out the update to this time.

Whatever, the main thing is that you can succeed restore the data. ;)

Yea but not the way I wanted to. I thought that it will be done automatically after upgrade to 3.x.

Sure, normally is it done automatically and many hundred users have do it succesfully. But we could not solve your problem as it was not possible to get access to your website. So we can in this case not do more. I hope you understand this.
