News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hallo,

Hi
If you are moving the website by using a backup such as Akeeba or similar, then it is necessary to change the Upload Directory Path in Configuration Downloads tab.  All directory refernces are relative to that main path.

PS I used Google translate on your message so please excuse if I have not understood properly

Hi Colin
Thank you for helping. Yes i know, that i have to change the path. I did it but however, i have a kind of a mess now. There are some directories (categories) i can't delete. I dont know. Maybe the best way is to delete (copying to another directory) everything and play it back?

Thank you
Chris

Hi Chris,
I think you are right but maybe if I were to look at your site I might spot something to make it easier.
I am surprised you cannot delete as Super user!!  If you would like me to look then please send by PM superuser login details.  Also it would be good if you had eXtplorer installed as that way I could look at file system permissions.

Hi Colin

Thank you very much for helping (again). It seems ok now. I had to delete the files, and then the sub-categories and then the categories. So for the move to the Live-Domain: Do i have to change the path before the bakcup of the installation or after restoring?

Cheers

Christoph,
Usually I  would change the Download address after you have moved everything to the live site.  This keeps the backup of your test site good. After changing then you can backup the live site.  Before you backup make sure Monitoring is Off.

For regular Joomla! installations the 'base' directory string can be found in either global config - System - path to log folder or global config - server - path to temp folder, where you substitute jdownloads for log or tmp.
