Question on Remote-Stored Downloads

When my download file is stored on a remote server, is it possible that, when someone clicks "Download" the file simply downloads to the user's machine?  What's happening now is, the user clicks "Download" and then it opens a blank page and then downloads the zip file.

What I'm trying to get to, ultimately, is to store my files on a remote file storage place like Amazon S3 or Dropbox, and the user would click Download & the file would just download w/out leaving the download page.  Wasn't sure if this is possible, as I didn't see any documentation on how to do this specifically.

Any help much appreciated! :-)

Best,

Hi
When a file to be downloaded is located on a remote server then the downloading is handled by the remote server. It could be say  a youtube file or as in your case a cloud server like Amazon S3.  Each of these has their own 'protocol' so it is not possible to give any detail.  Also what happens may depend on the settings of the users browser..

So not really able to give any general guidance.

No worries. That's helpful enough right there. :-)  I just wasn't sure about whether JDownloads had and special settings. But, I'll mess around with it & see if I can get the desired UX w/ Dropbox or Amazon.
