Hello.
I'm new and I installed Joomla 3 on my web space just a few days ago. I have to build a kind of forum. I added the Jdownloades extension yesterday.
I would like to allow registered and authorized users to upload files to their articles. It is several hours that I try to make it possible by acting on the settings but I 'm not able to to that.  :( On the web page where a user uploads a new article does not appear anything of new that allows uploading files. :-\ How should I make it possible?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Hi,
QuoteOn the web page where a user uploads a new article does not appear anything of new that allows uploading files.
Please create a new menu type like this on the pic.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, now special users can upload files but where are they going? When files are uploaded, special users can not see where these files are located. I would like special users could include in their articles links or buttons from which other special users can download these files. How should I do to make it possible?  ???

When you are new with Joomla and jDownloads you should at first look at  the  documentation. As example here:
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/controlled-access-to-categories-and-downloads

I have largely read the articles "Controlled Access to Categories and Downloads (Permissions & Access Levels)" and "Create Download from Front End - Permissions and Access". I did not understand some sentences because my mother language is not the English but a problem is that I'm not able to find some screenshots in the article "Create Download from Front End - Permissions and Access". I enclose these three screens taken from that article. Can you tell me the route? Thank you.

Thank you very much.
The current situation is that which follows:
Now, in my site, publishers can see the files they have uploaded. But the problem which persists is they can not enclose their files in their articles. Only me, by backend, can create an article with a file enclosed  because in the console of the backend there is the "Download" button, like you can see in the screenshot. Why is not "Downoload" button there in the frontend consol?  ???

Go to the editor button plugin and activate the desired option. See pic.

Hermione,
I have been tied up for a few days with some work items!! I will try to help you.

I guess you may well have sorted out getting the Download Button in the front end when editing an article. If you need any more help on that please let me know.

Also so I do not go over to much old ground it would help if you could give a short summary of your present 'challenges'.  It might also help if you send me by PM  a link to your front end (click on whitish square with a tail near my name).
Colin
EDIT Have you sorted out the Joomla View Access (who can see what) and the Permissions (who can do what).  These are Joomla aspects that once understood are very powerful but they can be a bit daunting at first.

Yes, meantime I have solved the problem about the "Downolad" button in the frontend but unfortunateley now I have two or three new problems about downloads. I have to leave now and go to a meeting but when i come back I try to explain you those new problems. Thank very much to both of you.

Then the two problems are these:

- When a special user clicks on the "Files Caricati" modul  a window without the "header tool bar" appears.  I would like also this window had the "header tool bar".

- When a special user cliks on the "Download" button on the "editor consol" a windows with all files uploaded by all users appears. I would like when a certain user clicked on the "Downolad" button on the "editor consol" a windows with only the files which had been uploaded by this certain user appeared.

Hi
You wrote
QuoteWhen a special user clicks on the "Files Caricati" modul  a window without the "header tool bar" appears.  I would like also this window had the "header tool bar".
First I am just re-stating your question to make sure I understand it - so please excuse if it sounds a bit formal. :)
This is being shown by the jD Menu item type 'My Downloads' which you have titled as "Files Caricati" meaning 'I miei file caricati' in the users menu list. By design this menu item specifically just lists those Downloads created by the logged on user. You would like it to have the 'header' section as shown in your second picture.

What I would like to ask is why you want the Header to be shown as there may be other ways to resolve your request. Are there specific parts of the header?

For the second challenge you wrote
QuoteWhen a special user cliks on the "Download" button on the "editor consol" a windows with all files uploaded by all users appears. I would like when a certain user clicked on the "Downolad" button on the "editor consol" a windows with only the files which had been uploaded by this certain user appeared.

I think you are using the jDownloads View Limits module and the display shown when you click on the 'Click here to see your download history.' ("Clicca qui per vedere la cronologia dei download.").  Is that correct?

If it is this then the text in the module is a little misleading as it is lists those Downloads downloaded by all the members of that User Group, not by the individual user.  I will change the text.

Because the module is doing things related to a User Group it would not be appropriate to just list those items Downloaded by a specific user.  That having been said there have been several requests to show a list of thse Downloads that have been downloaded by a specific user eg  "Show Downloads I have Downloaded". It is on the list of things to do.

Will check back soon

Colin

Please understand that we cannot change for single users our extensions. So it is not possible to make it to hundred percent perfect for everyone.

In day time I will answer to you.
Meantime:

I was not talking about downloaded  files by a user but about uploaded files by a user.

Colin, have you received my private message? Have you visited my site?

Thank you very much.
